Human hair extensions have been around since the days of the ancient Egyptians, but not until the past 10 years have they really become a popular choice for the masses.Take a look into a local salon on any given day, and you will see many people choosing extensions as a way of changing their hairstyle, adding length, or adding body and fullness to thin or thinning hair. One of the most popular types of hair to use is Indian hair, but why this particular ethnicity? What makes Indian weaves so popular?
When looking at Indian hairstyles, you cannot help but notice how shiny and substantial it is. Chemicals are not used to make it that shiny; it is a natural attribute along with being naturally thicker, longer, and stronger hair as well. The dark color saturation of the hair enables light to reflect more easily from the strands than lighter colored products. The light that is reflected is of higher contrast, so the hair effectively gives off a shiny and glowing look.In addition to this, straight hair will reflect more light than curly hair as there is more available surface.
Since Indian women (and men) usually don't break their hair by using chemical compounds, colors, or irons on their hair, it is in much better health than many other types of hair. It is for these reasons that Indian hair is a most popular choice when it comes to extensions.

Virgin Indian Remy hair is the most luxurious and in demand type of hair extensions available. Simply put, virgin is natural, non-chemically treated hair, which means no coloring, no straightening, and no bleaching. The term Remy means that the hair has been processed or colored, virgin hair means the opposite.. Indian hair history is very interesting, it involves the donation of hair as a sacrifice to God.. If the strands of hair were kept together in one direction, the hair can be deemed Remy.
If the hair has been harvested in a fashion that allowed the strands to become tangled and flipped end to end, it is no longer Remy. The reason behind keeping the strands together and going in one direction is because of the cuticles of the hair. Cuticles are like little scales that cover the hair shaft and allow nutrients and oils to pass through. When looking microscopically at a strand of hair, you can see that the cuticles all flow in one direction down the hair shaft, much like shingles on a roof. When the strands of hair are disrupted, the direction of the cuticles become muddled and the shaft becomes ruffled and does not have a clean, sleek look.
Indian hair extensions are also popular because they blend in well with all different hair types and ethnicity. The African American community particularly likes this because it very naturally blends in with their own color, accenting the off-black and dark brown combination. If taken care of properly, the product will last for a very long time. They are often reusable for one year or more.
Add to this the fact that Indian hair vendors is so healthy and beautiful, and it is easy to understand why it can be a bit higher priced than other types of extensions; it must be viewed as an investment. Because the hair lasts longer than other types of extension by double if not more, and the high quality exists, the cost evens out and is understandable.
